Hello, I’m Bekah and I’m glad you’re here!

Bekah Pogue
MMFT, SD

I hold an M.A. in Marriage & Family Therapy from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, TN, and a B.A. in Liberal Studies with a minor in Leadership from Azusa Pacific University in Southern CA. I’m trained in Spiritually Integrated Psychotherapy (SIP) through ACPE, a multi-disciplinary, inter-spiritual, multi-racial community dedicated to “care of the soul” formation for clients and practitioners. I am a certified Spiritual Director through Sustainable Faith School of Spiritual Direction and the Founder of Pasture Experience, where I hold contemplative spaces and host & facilitate soul-care retreats for all-sensory experiences.

Pasture Counseling, LLC, is inspired by Psalm 23, a metaphor for a life that is secure, soul-nourishing, and sustaining. There will be times when health, crisis, or limited capacity still us to rest and reflect. There will be times of peace and restoration, while other seasons bring suffering and darkness, always with the hope of coming home to our true self. I invite you to bring this image of a pasture into our work to notice and be present, ever journeying with self-compassion and openness.

I approach clients with an attachment lens and a client-centered posture where the client is the expert. I believe you already have the gifts, tools, and resilience within, yet need a counselor to help mine, make meaning, and empower you toward lasting change. Therefore, I look at the whole mind-body-heart person in the context of relationship, culture, and spiritual integration. I am passionate about holding space for grief, trauma, identity, and life transitions through secure attachment, trauma interventions, boundary-setting, grief recovery, and mindfulness practices.

My trainings/modalities/specialties include:

  • Spiritually Integrated Psychotherapy (SIP)

  • Grief Recovery Method

  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) - Externship & Level 1

  • Relational trauma

  • Grief & Loss

  • Church trauma/spiritual abuse

  • Somatic integration

  • Midlife

  • Women’s issues

  • Seasons of transition

  • Depression and Anxiety

  • Narcisstic abuse

My journey that led to becoming a therapist I credit to a midlife awakening that began with grief and slowly unraveled years of over-functioning and under-awareness. What I’m continually learning is how to come home to myself and I consider it sacred work to empower you on your unique journey.

I grew up in Southern CA, and my husband and I moved up and down the CA coast before moving to TN in 2017 for the green hills, barns, and room to breathe. I’ve been married 20 years, have two teenage boys, two dogs, and a porch cat. Our family’s dream is to have a holistic retreat property in the country with space to offer counseling and spiritual direction, complete with a poetry barn, cottages, and a donkey rescue farm!

I value honest conversations on the porch, adventuring new towns, offering hospitality to strangers, writing, foraging for beauty, hiking, and antiquing/thrifting. A perfect day would include brunch, a long walk, wildflower picking, reading a Henri Nouwen book, and sitting around a bonfire with family and friends.

I look forward to offering a compassionate space for you to come home to your true self.

Bekah is pursuing licensure in the state of TN for Marriage & Family Therapy under the supervision of Patricia Winn Thomas Simmons, license #1590

“Only suffering and struggle, and all the dark experiences that come with them, will grow a soul big enough to hold our life. This happens when we ground ourselves in the blood, sweat, and tears of ordinary life.”
